Cool Mediators platform used for upcoming ElectroSmog festival
[posted: March 12, 2010]

The Cool Mediators platform (beta) will be used for the upcoming ElectroSmog international festival for sustainable immobility. On-line discussions preceding the festival have just been opened, and the Cool Mediators Platform will play a crucial role in facilitating on-line access to live-streams, and audience feedback and contributions to the festival discussions.

You can find the overview of on-line discussions at the ElectroSmog website, here: www.electrosmogfestival.net/discussions

About the ElectroSmog festival

The ElectroSmog festival is a critique of the worldwide explosion of mobility, and an exploration of the new forms of connectedness with others offered to us by network and communication technologies. Our question is if these new forms of connectedness can help us to develop a viable new lifestyle less determined by speed and constant mobility, which is both ecologically and socially more sustainable.

The format of ElectroSmog is one possible answer to this question: the festival is a collaborative project developed by a network of organisations and initiatives spread over more than ten countries and 5 continents, for which no one is allowed to travel and all connections are established on-line, redefining the idea of an international festival from the ground up.

Cool Mediators discussion platform and website officially open for public use
[posted: September 16, 2009]

Over the past year the development team of the Cool Mediators Foundation has been working on its new platform for distributed interactive discussions. Cool Mediators offers a set of digital tools, practical methods and a range of services for the facilitation of interactive public discussions. After concluding a series of successful pilot events with various partner-organizations - with the platform still under development - we are very pleased to announce that it is now available for you to use!

Cool Mediators connects on-line debates with real-life meetings and discussions. Our on-line platform provides organizers with an elaborately designed set of tools to engage their communities and audiences in an interactive participatory process at all stages of creating a public event: preparation, execution, follow-up assessment.

The Cool Mediators platform combines on-line discussion tools, live interactive webcast interfaces connecting on- and off-line audiences, automated archiving facilities, and basic community management and moderation tools.

The heart of the new platform is our fully functional and embeddable widget that harbors all the features and functions of the Cool Mediators discussion platform. At the website you can easily set up and configure your own discussion channel, see how your choices affect the shape and functions of the widget, and decide whether you want your channel to be publicly visible in the Cool Mediators website or not. By copying the embed code of the widget you can insert your discussion channel in your own website, as you would embed an on-line video.

Alternatively, your discussion channel will be available as a regular website. In the coming weeks we will add this feature to the platform. Right now you can already use the live event interface as a full size web-page. Over the next few weeks we will also add more extensive help and support resources, as well as video tutorials about the different parts and features of the platform.

Try out our new platform for yourself and start a channel - it’s free!

Please find our terms and conditions of service here.
